What is ceramic coating?
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to your vehicle’s paint, creating a durable protective layer. It enhances gloss, deepens colour, and makes the surface far more resistant to UV damage, chemicals, dirt and water spotting. As experienced detailers, we apply ceramic coatings only after proper paint preparation, which is what ensures the coating actually lasts and performs the way it’s meant to.
Ceramic coating vs PPF – what’s the difference?
Ceramic coating is all about protection and ease of maintenance. It won’t stop stone chips, but it will keep your paint looking better for longer and make washing significantly easier.
Paint Protection Film (PPF), on the other hand, is a physical film designed to absorb impact and prevent stone chips and scratches.
In simple terms:
• Ceramic coating = lock in gloss or matte, oxidation resistance , easier maintenance
• PPF = impact protection from road damage; stone chips etc
Many of our customers choose ceramic coating on the entire vehicle, with PPF added to high-impact areas for the best of both worlds.
Even on a brand new vehicle, all cars must undergo a paint preparation and correction process before ceramic coating is applied. This isn’t about age or condition — it’s about ensuring the coating bonds correctly to the paint.
New vehicles often arrive with light swirl marks, transport damage, dealership wash marks or embedded contaminants that aren’t always visible at first glance. Paint correction removes these imperfections and creates a clean, refined surface for the coating to properly adhere to.
This step is also a manufacturer warranty requirement for most professional ceramic coating systems. Skipping paint correction can lead to poor bonding, reduced durability and voided coating warranties.
For that reason, we don’t offer ceramic coating as a standalone installation. Our quotes always include the appropriate level of paint correction to ensure the coating performs as intended and delivers long-term results.
Gameover Customs operates as a fully mobile service, meaning we don’t have a fixed workshop address. All work is carried out at your home, workplace, or dealership, using our fully equipped detailing vehicles designed specifically to deliver professional results outside of a traditional workshop.
For dealership clients, we simply book a date and time and work within a small allocated area of the workshop to complete the service efficiently and to the same standard you’d expect from a fixed-location facility.
T
his setup allows us to offer greater flexibility and convenience, without compromising on quality or attention to detail.
At Gameover Customs, we focus on doing the job properly, not rushing cars in and out. Every vehicle is treated as an individual job, with the level of preparation and attention it actually needs — not a one-size-fits-all approach.
We’re fully mobile and professionally equipped to work at homes, workplaces and dealerships, which means you get workshop-level results without the inconvenience of dropping your car off. Our experience across private vehicles, performance cars and dealership work means we understand different standards, timelines and expectations — and we meet them consistently.
Most importantly, we’re upfront, honest and realistic about what can be achieved. We recommend what’s right for your vehicle, not what’s most expensive, and that’s why a large portion of our work comes from repeat clients and referrals.
